You can open a Savings and Loans Account with a minimum of £2.00.
Of this, £1.00 is a membership fee and the rest is put into your Savings Account.
We encourage our members to save regularly, however small the amount. We operate friendly and accessible branches, at a variety of times and places . You can choose to save weekly or monthly. Savings can also be made by Standing Order from a bank account, or, if your employer runs this scheme, by payroll deduction .
We expect new members to build up a balance of at least £5.00 in their Savings Account within 6 months.
The maximum amount that you can save with the Credit Union (including any Additional Savings Accounts) is £10,000.
You can withdraw money from your account as long as:
* you leave at least £1.00 in your account (£5.00 after the first 6 months).
* you leave any sum that has been used to secure or guarantee a loan.
However, you are encouraged to keep your shares intact to maintain your capacity to borrow and to benefit from dividend payments.
Amounts up to £200 in cash can be withdrawn without notice. Larger cash amounts and cheques must be requested in advance - subject to availability of funds, we aim to have the money ready for collection on the next day of opening.
Although we do not pay interest on Savings Accounts, provided that we generate sufficient annual surplus, we are able to pay a dividend. On 30 September 2006, we paid a 1% dividend.
Come along and join at any branch.
You will need to bring a photographic identity document such as a driving licence or passport, plus a utility bill showing your address, and a payslip if you work, rather than live, in our area.
